Wild About Books is an organization dedicated to the proposition that all men (and women!) are created equal, and should have equal opportunity to bask in the glorious and as-yet-undiscovered treasures found throughout the vast, magical realm of literacy. Also, we love books. Through programs we’ve either founded or co-founded, such as . . .
- Central Valley Young Writer’s Prize – Now kicking off its fourth year, the CVYWP is an annual writing/illustration contest for children grades 3-12 to enter their original works in the areas of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and illustration. Winners are published in an anthology, and first places prizes in the different age divisions receive cash prizes.
- Spring Writers Conference – A weekend of writing and publishing workshops, panels, one-on-one intensives with published novelists, poets, screenwriters & publishers themselves, and lots of informal time to mingle and chat with the presenters and other attendees.
- Creative Writing Mentorship Program – Designed to aid young writers (grades 5-12) who no longer have the opportunity to take creative writing classes in school due to state-wide budget cutbacks, our hope and goal is to cultivate their creativity and passion for writing by encouraging them in small group settings with other writers their own age, moderated by mentors from the MFA program at CSUF.
. . . we hope to promote literacy awareness and accessibility throughout the community and California’s Central Valley.
