In our continuing effort to promote creativity and self-expression through the written word, Wild About Books is proud to be partnering with the Young Writers Conference, A Book Barn, and The Normal School at Fresno State, to forge the Creative Writing Mentor Program.

Designed to aid young writers (grades 5-12) who no longer have the opportunity to take creative writing classes in school due to state-wide budget cutbacks, our hope and goal is to cultivate their creativity and passion for writing by encouraging them in small group settings with other writers their own age, moderated by mentors from the MFA program at CSUF.

Currently, the program meets once every two weeks (see A Book Barn’s Event Calendar for dates), the sessions last for one to two hours, and the participants are encouraged to bring something brief that they’ve written and would be willing to share and discuss with their mentors and other small group participants. While attending the event is completely free, we want to make sure we have enough mentors available to give the attendees the best possible experience, so please register!

The group meets at A Book Barn in Old Town Clovis, across from the Clovis Rodeo Grounds, on the corner of Clovis Avenue and 7th Street. If you have any questions or would like to register your young writer, please fill out the form below, or contact A Book Barn by phone at 559.297.9052 or e-mail at info@wildaboutbooks.org.
